Vitamin stores will try to sell you magic formulas. Books and eBooks will promise to let you in on the mysteries or secrets of muscle-building. You don't need secret strategies, though. You don't need any of this. You just have to do the work.

If you're trying to figure out how to lose weight and gain muscle fast, crash diets with extreme calorie restrictions are not suitable for anyone. When you lose weight by crash dieting you lose both fat and muscle. Exercise and healthy eating can not only preserve the muscle you have, but add to it. Choose a healthy diet and a challenging exercise program and your muscles will get stronger as your extra fat begins to shrink away.

Gaining Muscle

Bulking up or muscle gain doesn't happen overnight. If you're willing to put time and effort in though, you will feel changes in a few days, and could physically see the changes within a few weeks.

Here are some must-do's when you're trying to lose weight and gain muscle fast:
  • Start slow! Trainers and instructors say they see most injuries occur in people who try to do too much all at once. Start with weights you're comfortable lifting or excercises that don't put you're body under too much strain.
  • Do it right! If you're not familiar with exercises it pays to invest in a session or two with a personal trainer or have a gym instructor show you. If you learn to exercise and lift weights properly you won't get sidelined by injury.
  • Link your weight training to your goals. e.g. Heavier weights with fewer reps will bulk up muscles more than lighter weights with lots of reps.

Also, this method costs nothing! ... bodyweight exercises do not require expensive equipment or monthly gym memberships. They can be carried out anywhere, anytime.

They do not have to take up much time and it will not cost you anything. Just allowing yourself 15 minutes in the morning and/or 15 minutes in the evening, you could easily complete 3 sets of exercises focusing on 3 different muscle groups.
